Automated tools that take care of tasks on your behalf.
Chances are that your loved one, like most of us, had dozens of accounts, subscriptions, and memberships. Some are very important, and some may have hardly been used, but all will need to be closed or canceled. We’ll help you form a plan for tackling this time-consuming task.
Probate and estate settlement guidance and resources.
Probate is often a long and complex process, but it is also completely manageable if you stay organized and follow the court's instructions. We’ll walk you through whichever scenario applies to your loved one’s estate.
Emotional support and help for coping with grief.
Grief isn’t a feeling. It’s a process. Everyone experiences it differently, and you are the only one who can feel your feelings. But some understanding may help you come to grips with what you are going through.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does Empathy work?
Empathy's comprehensive support system can be accessed via our mobile phone app or online through a browser window. Families can also reach our Care Team via phone, using a dedicated GBU number. We offer multiple access paths to ensure we are supporting our users in whatever way they are most comfortable. When registering to create an account online or on a mobile device, users answer a few introductory questions, which allows Empathy to create a personalized experience, focusing on the areas where the most support and guidance are needed.
How can Empathy help families?
With a combination of technology and human support, Empathy helps beneficiaries navigate all aspects of loss: planning a funeral, writing an obituary, closing a loved one's accounts, settling their financial affairs, and more. We also make it easy for them to collaborate with other family members, while keeping their loved one's personal information and documents private, safe, and secure.
With a dedicated Care Manager supporting them every step of the way, families are fully supported as they tackle each task, decision, and challenge. Plus, they'll have all of the information and advice to know that they are proceeding correctly. Topics covered in the app include coping with grief, searching for important documents, finding and filing a will, preventing identity theft, dealing with creditors, going through the probate process, paying taxes, and more.
