Host a Disaster Kit-Packing Event

GBU Life invites you to host a disaster kit packing event in your community. These events help provide much-needed supplies to your local American Red Cross office so they can support people affected by natural disasters, including hurricanes and summer storms.

As part of this event, you can also request for an American Red Cross professional to attend and facilitate a CPR training course or a Red Cross Ready Disaster Preparedness training.

Step 1:

Review the kit options and pricing to decide which type of kit and what quantity you would like to order so that you can place your order whenever you register. Please note that kits must be ordered in multiples of 100. You can review kit types and pricing here: SAF Kit Pricing Sheet.

Step 2:

Complete a Hands-On Helpers Host Registration Form and select the option for "Host a Kit Packing Event" or "Host a Kit Packing Event and Training Session". If you select the option to add on a training session, you will be asked to select between the following courses:

  • Hands-Only CPR Training (Virtual or In Person)
  • An expert Red Cross trainer will lead this 30-minute virtual session, covering CPR basics and the skills needed to perform “Hands-Only” CPR (no mouth-to-mouth contact is involved).

  • Virtual “Red Cross Ready” Disaster Preparedness (Virtual or In Person)
  • Find out which emergencies are most likely to occur where you live and then learn about the steps you can take today to prepare.

  • Virtual MapSwipe Crowdsourcing (Virtual Only)
  • MapSwipe is an easy-to-learn mobile app (available on Android and IOS) that helps the Red Cross prepare and plan so they’re ready to respond before disasters strike. This course will guide you through the app, teaching you how to identify infrastructure and validate map data.

Step 3:

Once you complete the form with all of your event details, GBU Life will provide you with a customizable email invitation that you can provide to your clients. If you selected to add on a training session, an American Red Cross Representative will reach out to you.

Step 4:

GBU Life will help you promote your event by emailing members in your area and promoting your event on our website (if you would like).

Step 4:

Host your Event! An American Red Cross representative will help you coordinate shipping back your kits.
