Virtual MapSwipe Crowdsourcing

Tuesday, September 15 at 12:00 pm EST.

Accurate maps play a critical role in emergency response. Yet many areas impacted by natural disasters are literally ‘missing’ from digital maps. MapSwipe is an easy-to-learn mobile app (available on Android and IOS) that helps the Red Cross prepare and plan so they’re ready to respond before disasters strike. This course will guide you through the app, teaching you how to identify infrastructure and validate map data.

Kit-Packing Event

GBU Life invites you to host a disaster kit packing event in your community. These events help provide much-needed supplies to your local American Red Cross office so they can support people affected by natural disasters, including hurricanes and summer storms.

As part of this event, you can also request for an American Red Cross professional to attend and facilitate a CPR training course or a Red Cross Ready Disaster Preparedness training.

As the host, you would simply choose a date, time, and training topic of your choice (if you would like to add a training component to your event). GBU Life will send you a customizable email invitation that you can distribute to your contacts.

What is an SAF Kit?

Services to the Armed Forces (SAF) Kits are care packages provided through the American Red Cross to support individuals and families impacted by natural disasters and emergencies. Each kit contains essential personal care items and can be assembled for as little as $9.75 to $21.00. Depending on the kit type, contents may include shampoo, soap, a washcloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, a comb, tissues, women's personal hygiene items, a plastic bag, and an American Red Cross drawstring backpack.

Hosting an SAF kit-packing event is a meaningful way to make a difference while bringing people together around a shared purpose. Whether you're gathering family members, coworkers, a church group, or community volunteers, packing kits provides a hands-on opportunity to connect, collaborate, and give back. Participants can see the direct impact of their efforts as they assemble items that will provide comfort, dignity, and support to those facing difficult circumstances.
